Like any My Stylish French Box lover, Louise Jourdan-Gassin, the creator of the brand Serie Limitée Louise, loves a good brocante. Seeking out items, especially photographs, that speak to our roots, our memories, and our emotions, her passion has translated itself into her work.
Some of these finds make their way onto Louise’s aprons, teacloths, and other linen household textiles, printed using water-based non-toxic ink just outside of Paris onto stonewashed linen sourced from a producer in the south of France. The idea is simple yet evocative- combine useful, quality, everyday items with prints and images that might stir up a memory or a curiosity into the back story behind one of these anonymous photographs.
Originally from Nice, Louise now lives in the east of Paris in the restored storage room of an old boutique, opening up onto a verdant inner courtyard- the ideal place of respite away from the bustle of Parisian life to allow the creative juices to flow. After attending art school and working for 5 years for another designer, she wanted to foray into her own project combining her love of cooking and of design, and finding her little atelier-maison in which to live and work has no doubt contributed to her success.
Her limited edition collections, as indicated in the brand’s name serie limitée, are all hand-printed. With designs varying from these vintage photographs to a curry yellow teacloth printed with a lobster to quotes from Marcel Proust, there’s something to fit everyone’s tastes.
We are so pleased to have been able to partner with Serie Limitée Louise for our August box!
