the best places to see paris at night

The Louvre

With our next Box being curated around the theme, Midnight in Paris, we thought that it would be fun to share with you all the best places to see Paris at night!

There is an entirely different look and feel to Paris at night. Most commonly referred to as the City of Lights, there is no city more magical after dark than Paris! The nickname originates from a reference to both the intellectual ‘light’ of the city, having been a central hub for artists and creatives, especially through the 1920s. However, the name also refers to Paris’ early adoption of street lighting, with the city being one of the first to switch from oil lamps to electricity in 1878. With so much romance and flair, this city is often considered even more magical after dark and we have the list of the best places to see Paris at night!

Pont Alexandre III

Arguably the most beautiful bridge in Paris, the Pont Alexandre III comes to life during the night. This is when the city is covered in a layer of semi-darkness and the lights begin to reflect on the River Seine which allows both the river and gold detailing on the bridge to shimmer.

Quai Saint-Bernard

Another popular waterfront is the Quai Saint-Bernard. It starts just behind the famous Notre Dame Cathedral and is one of the more popular places for picnics. But during the nights, the Quai is full of people of all ages hanging out or taking a dancing class. Here you can enjoy it from afar, or join in on one of the free tango or salsa classes!

Montparnasse Tower

This is one view you won’t want to miss! The Montparnasse Tower stands 210 meters tall and is one of the tallest buildings in Paris. From the top of the Tower, you can see places up to 40 km away. Up here, you can sit and have a drink while enjoying the million-dollar views!

Eiffel Tower

It is no surprise that the Eiffel Tower is on this list. The sight of the city’s beloved national monument lit up in all its glory after nightfall is simply unmissable. It is best to get there around sunset to watch the sparkling lights twinkle every hour on the hour until 1 am. Our favorite viewpoint is at Place du Trocadéro where you will have an unobstructed view (besides other tourists) of the tower!

The Louvre

One of the best places to visit Paris at night (or at least pass by) is The Louvre! Drop by the museum’s famous triangle entrance for an impressive glow of an evening, surrounded by the historic halls of The Louvre and the art they so magnificently house.

A great way to take in a lot of Paris’ beauty is by a dinner cruise on the Seine River. You will get to discover all of the beauty Paris holds by night while enjoying French cuisine on the water. Most of them end the night with a front-row view of the glistening Eiffel Tower. This is your opportunity to take some truly amazing photos.

Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe

Ordered for construction under the order of Napoleon Bonaparte, the Arc De Triomphe is another of Paris’ most beautiful attractions, idyllically located on the Champs-Elysées. Both the Arc and the famous shopping street light up in an array of colors by night, making this one of the most beautiful places in Paris to visit at nighttime.
