weaving history: inside charvet linen

Authentic, robust and timeless linen is at the heart of Charvet Editions-linen experts that have supplied industry professionals for over a century.

Founded in 1866, Charvet is one of France’s oldest textile companies. The factory is basedin Armentières, northern France, a town referred to as cité de la toile (the city of canvas) since the Middle Ages because of its reputation for producing the country’s best linen. Utilizing the raw linen that was so abundant in northern France, particularly Flanders on the Belgium border, Charvet began to diversify its product through weaving. Combining experience and innovation, today, Charvet weaves the same traditional fibers but using modern machines.

Times have changed but Charvet continues to be 100% Made in France: a label at the heart of the brand’s ethos. The collections are manufactured exclusively in Charvet workshops, allowing a consistently high level of quality and a creative flexibility over new colors, styles and designs. Today, it is possible to personalize products by adding a name or even creating a bespoke color.

Charvet customarily supplies industrial markets such as hotels or restaurants. Maintaining its heritage as a professional accessory, it has chosen not sell products online.
