Scent is such an important part of memory, and it is this philosophy that inspired the creation of Rose et Marius. Magali Fleurquin-Bonnard calls upon her childhood memories of summers spent at her grandmother’s in the heart of Provence to inspire her creations, from the smell to the designs of her packaging.

Smelling the aroma of one of their lovely products, you’re taken straight to the bastide of Rose and Marius, the fictional couple who represent the spirit of the brand. The fresh mint liquid soap evokes the feeling of walking barefoot in the bastide’s garden with the scent of mint from the herb garden wafting through the air. A little piece of Provence is brought to you every time you spray one of their perfumes or light one of their candles.

One of our favorite things about Rose et Marius is their commitment to the environment. Not only are all of their products made using primarily locally sourced, natural materials, but they are helping to finance a reforestation project in the beautifulcalanques, or fjords, along the coast, which are in the summer extremely prone to forest fires.

Magali carefully chose the craftspeople involved in making all of Rose et Marius’s products. Daniel, the Limoges porcelain maker whose manufacturing firm has been making quality products since 1825; Patrick, the parfumer native to the famous perfume-making village of Grasse; Marie-Noel, the soap maker who uses natural ingredients to make sure her soaps nourish and care for the hands and body; and Frédéric, the wax master whose know-how of the way scents work with different waxes enables him to create candles optimized for each perfume.

Thanks to all these elements, and years of hard work on Magali’s part, Rose et Marius has established themselves as a truly luxurious Provençal brand. Their boutique is in the heart of the chic southern city of Aix-en-Provence, where you can buy their products as well as take perfume classes (as the guests on Sharon’s spring Provence tour experienced).
