Description
Harvested by hand from the salt marshes of Guérande in Brittany, this fleur de sel is one of France’s most iconic finishing salts.
Protected by its IGP status, it is produced using traditional methods passed down through generations of paludiers, who carefully skim the delicate crystals from the surface of the salt ponds as they form under sun and wind.
Unlike everyday table salt, fleur de sel is never used during cooking. It’s fine, fragile crystals are added at the very end of preparation to preserve their texture and enhance the natural flavors of a dish without overpowering it. The result is a clean, mineral finish with a subtle crunch that instantly elevates both sweet and savoury recipes.
It is particularly beautiful sprinkled over grilled meats such as steak or roast chicken just before serving, where it melts slightly on contact and enhances the depth of the meat. It also works wonderfully over roasted vegetables, tomatoes, or fresh salads, adding brightness and contrast.
