We are thrilled to announce that Jamie Beck has joined us as our resident artist this year!
Throughout the year, she will be creating 4 unique still-life photos exclusively for our Box Subscribers. Many of you will have seen her book An American in Provence, but for those of you who may not be familiar with Jamie’s work, let us give you a brief description of how she creates her still-life photography.
Jamie Beck is a photographer and visual artist who resides and works in Provence. Her photography is other-worldly. Her attention to detail and desire to create transport her audience into a world of beauty and elegance. Along with showcasing her stunning work to the public, Jamie also openly shares her artistic and photographic methods, which we will also share with you!
Jamie begins her creative process by taking inspiration from various sources, such as art, literature, nature, and her own experiences. Once she has an idea in mind, she starts with the object and slowly builds around it, creating modern-day masterpiece still-life compositions. She spends time adding the tiniest details such as drops of water or bugs to give a more realistic feel. After she has set up her scene, she plays with the lighting to find the best mood for the object. Jamie uses a combination of digital and film cameras and takes multiple shots from different angles to capture the perfect moment. She then spends time editing her photos to achieve the desired effect, and once she is happy with the outcome, she shares it with the world. Her creations can also be viewed in exhibits, galleries, and museums around the world!
Overall, Jamie’s creative process involves careful planning, attention to detail, and experimentation with new techniques and technologies to push the boundaries of still-life photography.
If you love Jamie’s photography, be sure to reserve our Quarterly Boxes this year, and by the end of the year, you will have a unique art collection created exclusively by her.
